The 2015 RAM 1500 is offered in many different configurations ranging from cab size to bed length to powertrain. The regular cab seats three and can be paired to a 6-foot 4-inch bed or an 8-foot bed; the extended, or Quad, cab seats up to six passengers and can only be paired to the 6-foot 4-inch bed; and the crew cab seats six passengers, adds extended rear-seat legroom, and can be paired to either a 5-foot 7-inch or a 6-foot 4-inch bed. It comes in six main trim levels: Tradesman, Express, HFE, SLT, Sport, and Laramie.
The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 305 horsepower and 269 pound-foot of torque. It comes paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission that comes controlled by a rotary knob on the instrument panel. It comes paired with two-wheel drive, but two four-wheel drive systems are also available. According to the EPA, 4x2 models will average 17/25 mpg, city and highway, while a 4x4 model should get 16/23 mpg. Standard on models Sport and above is a 5.7-liter V8 that generates 395 horsepower and 410 pound-foot of torque. It gets either a six-speed automatic or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Optional on most trims is the impressive EcoDiesel, a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine that produces 240 horsepower and 420 pound-foot of torque.
